polled 414 senior IT professionals from across Canada in Q4 2003 regarding
the IT skills their organizations needed most. There was a resounding

The top five IT skills Canadian companies are seeking, in order, include
TCP/IP, proficiency with Microsoft Corp.'s Windows XP, Windows 2000/ME,
security skills and knowledge of Microsoft's SQL server, according to the
survey released Wednesday.

SHRC takes high school certification program national The Software Human Resources Council http://www.shrc.ca is preparing to
expand a program that helps high-school students earn challenging IT
certifications across the country following its success in British Columbia.
The non-profit group has already signed agreements with the Toronto Board of
Education and the province of New Brunswick and is negotiating with the
Calgary Board of Education to adopt the two-year program, which simulates
real-life business situations and asks students to help create IT strategies
