Microsoft has launched its first certification course for IT desktop support staff.

Aimed at staff with about one year's experience, the course is designed for anyone interested in a career as an IT support professional and covers the skills required for customer support, PC support and technical support. No prior professional qualification is needed but a candidate should have solid user-level competency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.

CompTIA offers special certification pricing to Cisco Networking Academy students
The CompTIA trade association has partnered with Cisco Systems to offer students enrolled in the Cisco Networking Academy Program special pricing and online access to CompTIA's range of exam vouchers.

As part of the global partnership, Cisco Networking Academy students will have easier access to CompTIA A+, Network+, Linux+, Server+ and Security+ certifications offered by industry trade organization, said Gary Hannah, Education To Careers program manager at CompTIA. The certifications will be offered from the high school level up through post-secondary education.

IT security training and certification paying off for organizations
Organizations investing in security training and certification for their information technology (IT) personnel are less likely to experience major security breaches, according to a recent study on IT security by CompTIA, the Computing Technology Industry Association.

Organizations with at least one-quarter of their IT staff trained in security reported fewer security breaches (46.3 percent) than organizations with less than one-quarter of IT staff trained in security (66.0 percent). Among those who have invested in IT security training, 80 percent feel that their security has improved; 70 percent of those who have invested in certification feel the same way. Nearly 900 organizations across a range of industries, including education, financial services, government, health care, IT, and manufacturing, participated in the second annual CompTIA study.

No Referrer name, No host name, http version is 414 and http code is 345. Where the IP Number would normally be is a page of \x90\x90, if I copy it and paste it into the address bar it reverts to the Host IP number. ...
